Analysis and Action
We have further improved our partnership work with schools and communities. During 2020, we again significantly increased our numbers of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) ambassadors (now at 35), with the aim of attracting more female students, inspiring them into STEM subjects, and starting their journey to becoming employees in STEM areas.
We review our range of recruitment sources regularly and promote vacancies on our website. We continue to recruit new apprentices into the business and also use apprenticeship programmes as a way to further develop internal staff. We are pleased, but not complacent, to record that at the start of 2021, of our 42 apprentices (up from FY 2020), 34% are female.
